Our highly skilled team recently completed a metal gate installation in Northampton. Our client requested an elegant wrought iron effect steel gate for a shared driveway to a development of 4 properties. During the free on-site quotation we discussed various styles of gate and decided on the elegant up arch of our Knightsbridge range of automatic steel gates. The gates were constructed using 40mm steel box section for the outer frame with 20mm box section for the infill bars. They were then galvanised and powder coated black to give a traditional wrought iron effect.
We supplied and installed Beninca DU350NVE underground automation. The DU350 range of motors are mains powered electro-mechanical with encoders to allow for built in obstacle detection. The motors are encased in a water-tight oil bath to ensure they are well lubricated. This makes them ideal for high intensity properties such as those with more than a single occupant. Once the automation is installed and the gates are fitted we test the gates using industry recognised force testing equipment. The gates are configured to operate within certain parameters as recommended by the Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) guidelines.
Access through the automatic gates is done so via various access control components. Primarily there is a 4 button Telguard GSM intercom system. Each button has been individually programmed to ring a specific telephone number. When a call is answered, the recipient has the ability to open the gates by a press of a button on their telephone handset. Additionally the GSM Intercom system is clever enough to recognise mobile telephone numbers. When the intercom system is called by one of the numbers, the unit recognises the number and automatically opens the gate. The beauty of this aspect is that you can add and delete mobile numbers at will. This is a much smarter solution than giving out an access code that may need changing should too many people become familiar with the code. If you wish to give builders access through the gate for a duration of time, you can program a mobile number to be recognised by the intercom. Once the building work has been completed, you can delete the mobile number from the system, disabling their access through the gates.
