Automatic Sliding Gate in Cockfosters

We were commissioned by Yogo Construction to supply & install an Automatic Sliding Gate in Cockfosters, London. The steel gate had been provided and installed by others. We were given the task of installing the sliding gate automation and associated safety equipment. We had to be extremely careful during the installation as the contractors had already laid the final drive surface. The multi-occupancy location has been finished to a very high standard, so the utmost care and attention was given to this installation.

A number of challenges needed to be overcome. The originally intended gate automation system sat lower than the Beninca Bull 1024 unit that we opted to install. We had to accurately measure the height difference and create a bespoke mounting plate for the new motor. Additionally, cabling had been left protruding from the ground for the safety photocell beams. Normally we would drill cables directly through the piers or posts to give as neat a finish as possible. Instead, we opted to install a pair of our fully galvanised photocell posts allowing us to feed the cable up through the posts rather than clipping the cable to wall as others may do. This not only gives a much neater finish, but also gives added protection for the cable.

During the installation we noticed that the incorrect rollers had been used along the guide rail. We rectified this by replacing them with the correct type. It’s the small details like this that sets us apart from the competition. Rather than accepting the fact that the gate wasn’t running as smoothly as it should, we investigated the situation and came up with the best possible solution. Once the new rollers were installed the gate glided along the track with minimum effort.

The automatic sliding gate in Cockfosters was installed with a multi-function video intercom system. This allowed control over both the sliding vehicle gate and a seperate pedestrian gate. We supplied multiple hand held remote controls to allow remote access for users.
