We were commissioned by our client to work on a pair of Automatic Garage Doors in Corby. Our client had a bespoke Oak car port constructed to the side of their premises. To the front of the garage is a pair of Oak doors which required automating. Unlike most conventional automated gates, these doors opened outwards rather than inwards. In the end we opted to install a garage door motor rather than a surface mounted or underground gate automation system. After researching various automation systems, we concluded that the Beninca JIM garage door motor would be the most appropriate means of opening and closing the doors. We installed a Seip barn door operator which acts like a pair of arms which push and pull the garage doors accordingly. We installed a vehicle safety induction loop at the front of the doors to protect any vehicles that may be parked too close. The Beninca JIM garage door operator is a 24v high intensity use motor. The belt driven motor provides a very smooth and quiet operation. This means that the systems comes fitted with the built in obstacle detection facility. To further protect any one using the garage doors, the system was set to semi-automatic, requiring a command to open the doors, and then a command to close the doors once the area is clear.
Access through the automatic garage doors in Corby is done so via hand held radio transmitters and a wireless keypad. The wireless keypad was installed to the clients specification is a suitable location to allow ease of use should a radio transmitter not be to hand. The wireless keypads require only a small 3.6v lithium battery, similar to that of a watch battery. The unit lays dormant until a button is pressed. This results in an extremely long lasting unit.
